I agree totally with Dele. McConkey. I am employed at DHCD and have been for 29 years. I know of the hardships that it will cause. Many, many people will be up-rooted, plus extra cost of transportation, more hours spent on travel. For what!

Dear Delegate McConkey,

On behalf of the Maryland Farm Bureau, thank you for posting this article. Below is a statement from Savefarmfamilies.org.

SaveFarmFamilies.org end of trial statement:

"All along we've said that this lawsuit threatens family farms across the country, and the trial revealed the true agenda of the groups and of the individuals involved in the case – to use trumped up pollution charges to attack poultry farms. We believe it's clear that the Waterkeeper Alliance, the Assateague Coastal Trust and the University of Maryland Environmental Law Clinic did not prove their case. They have continuously changed their story to find some reason to vilify a hardworking farm family just because they raise chickens. The best they could come up with is that dust from the poultry house fans and the small amount of litter from foot traffic in and out of the poultry house constitute a violation of the Clean Water Act.

To add insult to injury, two of three lawyers at the plaintiff's table the past three weeks have been Maryland state employees. The Waterkeepers' use of the University of Maryland Environmental Law Clinic as a tool in its publicly announced "hard-nosed litigation" tactics against a Maryland citizen and Maryland corporation is, as Governor O'Malley has already stated, an "injustice."

The farming community looks forward to a favorable ruling and an opportunity for the Hudson family to see their lives return to normal."

Dr. Carson's comments on Obamacare are enlightening, especially his opposition to the over-reach of the Federal government into health care. In a few short weeks, it's time to pay the piper and Americans start to pay taxes to fund Obamacare, regardless of what happens with the Bush-era tax cuts. These taxes were already approved with the new law and most people are just coming to understand they are about to be implemented. High income Americans will be hit first, with a new 3.8% tax on the smaller of modified adjusted gross income or net investment income (married filing joint of more than $250,000 income and $200,000 for single filers). The second increase on high-wage earners is a 0.9% surtax on earned income--wages, compensation and self-employment income, at these same income levels. The increase effectively raises the employee portion of the Medicare tax from 1.45% to 2.35%.

Many other aspects of Obamacare are already being implemented or will be shortly, so there is much more to come, including government exchanges that will tell you which insurance companies you can buy from (being implemented in VT and DC soon), and we've all heard about being fined for opting not to buy or provide health insurance.
